Forest Birthday Card
Illustration · Animation
Objective
Create a birthday card for people to send to their loved ones.
Storyboarding
Before I animated this piece, I sketched out a storyboard to get a sense of timing and movement.
—
This helped speed along my process since I had something to come back to for reference.

Scene Design
After fleshing out the story, I had to design the scene it would take place in.
—
My main goal was to create something really beautiful.

Designing/Rigging Characters
Once the scene was completed, I moved on to setting up the characters.
—
This is where I spent the bulk of my time on this project. I wanted each animal to have its own type of movement and personality.

Final Output
Over the course of many weeks, I slowly chipped away at the mountain that was this project.
—
Some days there was only time to work on it for 5 minutes, but progress was always being made.
Takeaways
It's okay if things change.
—
While this piece did come out almost exactly how I had planned, a lot of small changes happened along the way. Sometimes you bite off more than you can chew, but recognizing that and adjusting is just a part of the process.
