American Greetings is the world's second largest greeting card producer. Jacquie Lawson, a subsidiary, creates animated greeting cards for birthdays and special occasions, featuring English landscapes, playful animals, and much more.

I had the honor to work on their 2024 Advent Calendar.
Objective
Design a puzzle for users to play while in the home base.

Since this year's calendar was based in Paris, they wanted a puzzle reflecting that.
Gathering Reference
The longest part of the project, I spent days just studying pictures of Haussmann Architecture.

I was asked to illustrate a view of Paris that includes both the Eiffel Tower and the Seine. It did not have to be 100% accurate to the actual city, as long as it gave off the feeling of Paris.
In Context
The design was used for a puzzle as well as a final scene for a vignette animation.
Takeaways
You can never have too much reference.

Even after studying reference photos for days, I found myself going back to look for more and more as I moved through this project. I found that the more reference images I had, the more accurate my illustration was.
